Presidential Appointees

Research demonstrates that the gender, ethnicity, and backgrounds of people in decision making positions influence the questions that are raised, the issues that are addressed, and the resolutions reached. In other words, when women and women of color are part of the decision making process, women’s issues will receive more and different attention than when women and women of color are not decision makers. This is true not only at every level of policymaking and in the courts, but also at the level of presidential appointees. Documents in this section provide examples of issues receiving attention from female administrators.
