Navarro, Ana (b. 1971)

Republican strategist Ana Navarro is also a political commentator on CNN and CNN en Español. Her party affiliation began when she was a child living Nicaragua.

When President Ronald Reagan supported the Contra insurgency in her native country and opposed the Sandinistas, Navarro’s connection to the Republican Party began. She explained: “I became a Republican before I knew what a Republican even was because of Ronald Reagan.”

She has advised presidential hopefuls U.S. Senator John McCain and ambassador Jon Huntsman, and served in Florida governor Jeb Bush’s administration.

Born in Nicaragua, Navarro earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Miami in 1993 and her JD degree from St. Thomas University School of Law in 1997.
