Kuster, Ann McLane (b. 1956)

Democrat Ann McLane Kuster of New Hampshire entered the U.S. House of Representatives on January 3, 2013. It was her first elected office, but she comes from a political family. Her great-grandfather was governor of New Hampshire from 1905 to 1907, her father was mayor of Concord, and her mother was a state legislator for 25 years.

Congresswoman Kuster’s priorities include increasing access to healthcare, making education more accessible, and ensuring taxpayer dollars are used wisely. She supports apprenticeship and vocational training programs, investing in infrastructure, and increasing affordable housing.

Kuster ran unsuccessfully for the U.S. House in 2010 and on her second attempt against the man who had defeated her, she won. Kuster supports the Affordable Care Act and raising taxes on the wealthiest Americans.

Kuster earned her BA degree at Dartmouth College in 1978 and her JD degree at Georgetown University in 1984.
